MFL at Sellincourt
Spanish at Sellincourt
Intent
At Sellincourt, Spanish is taught in an exciting and engaging way, ensuring that every child develops a love for languages and gains valuable communication skills. Our Modern Foreign Language (MFL) curriculum is thoughtfully designed to progressively build from Year 3 to Year 6, giving pupils a comprehensive understanding of Spanish. The intent of our MFL program is to spark curiosity about other cultures, equip students with the ability to express themselves confidently, and lay a solid foundation for future language learning. To achieve this, we implement a scheme of work and resources that offer a relevant, broad, vibrant, and ambitious foreign languages curriculum. This approach is designed to inspire and excite our pupils through a wide variety of engaging topics and themes, ensuring that learning Spanish is both meaningful and enjoyable.
Implementation
Our implementation focuses on the four key language learning skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Lessons incorporate a wide variety of fun, interactive activities such as role-plays, songs and games to make learning memorable and enjoyable. This structured, progressive approach ensures that students continually build on their knowledge and skills each year, enhancing fluency and confidence.
Impact
The impact of our MFL curriculum is evident in students’ growing enthusiasm for language learning, improved cultural awareness, and the ability to communicate in Spanish with increasing accuracy and complexity.
